Coaching

In order to meet our commitment to help each player achieve his potential, at Maidenhead we place great emphasis on the quality of both our coaches and their coaching. Each Age Group has a head coach, supporting coaches, age group manager and first aid representative. Overseeing all of our coaches is our Coaching Co-ordinator Dave Pepper. We place great emphasis on developing our coaches through attendance at various coaching courses at local and national level.

We have established a structure to monitor and help develop coaches’ competence at each Age Group. Externally, we are assisted by the Berkshire Youth Development Officer, who is an invaluable interface with the RFU and helps keep us in touch with the latest developments in coaching. We also try to bring in senior players and coaches from senior clubs such as Harlequins, Richmond, Wasps etc to give an added interest and different dimension to the game. Our Head Coach and the Age Group coaches developed a player’s charter and a statement of coaching intent to define what each player should expect from the Club and what we expect of coaches and parents. This charter and statement have been adopted for dissemination within the county.
