Maidenhead RFC is recruiting for the newly created position of Head of Women’s Rugby.
Over the last 3 seasons, MRFC girls section has grown from zero to over 100 girls across squads U12, U14, U16 and U18.
We are now planning for our next adventure into adult women’s rugby to provide the next stepping stone for our U18 girls.
With the tremendous facilities that MRFC enjoys, the support from all levels of the club and the high quality of existing girls playing rugby at Maidenhead, this is a very exciting opportunity for the right candidate to make a massive difference to Women and Girls rugby in the local area.
In addition, the excitement that will be generated with England hosting the RWC2025, means this is a great time to be involved in Women’s and Girls rugby, with many new players being empowered to get involved in their local rugby club.
The overriding objective of the new role is to establish a Senior Women’s section at the club while providing leadership, direction and support to the U18 girl’s squad/coaching team in preparation for their move into adult Women’s rugby at Maidenhead.
Role
The new role will include support and direction across all elements of the MRFC Women’s and Girls section with responsibility for achieving the overall objectives of:
- Developing a Women’s squad in preparation for the 2025/2026 season including a 5 year development plan.
- Coaching and developing a style of play in line with the Maidenhead RFC playing philosophy.
- Supporting the current U18 coaching and management team in their development and confidence ready for the transition into adult rugby at Maidenhead.
- Working with the senior officials at the club in developing a Women’s and Girls support infrastructure at the club and being a key part of decision making in support of female rugby at Maidenhead RFC.
- Liaison with the Women’s and Girls local community to ensure strong links and development pathways.
- Supported by the club, establish links and potential partnerships with local Further Education and Higher Education establishments
- Supported by the club, establish a link and potential partnership with a Premiership Womens Rugby club
The role will require a person who is used to working under their own initiative, with a strong vision and passion for the development of Women’s Rugby. The successful candidate will receive full support from the senior officials in the club to achieve the set objectives.
Time commitment – to be finalised but presumed at least 1 training session in the week and 1 on a weekend plus associated planning and development time.
The role will attract reasonable expenses.
Skill and Personal Requirements:
- Passionate about women and girls rugby.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- The ability to successfully manage and implement change.
- Proven problem solver through solution finding.
- Hardworking, agile, conscientious, self-starting, willing to work under own initiative but with the full support of the club committee and senior coaches.
- The ability to produce and deliver clear and concise plans and progress reports.
- Strong networker with the ability to build strong, long-lasting relationships with diverse stakeholders;
- The desire to continually improve team members and self.

Experience and Qualifications:
- Experience and understanding of Women’s and Girls Rugby (essential)
- Current RFU Coaching Qualification(s) (desirable, the club will support the successful candidate in additional coaching qualifications if required).
- Currently RFU DBS checked or willing to undertake before appointment and also provide references as part of MRFC’s Safer Recruitment (essential)
- IT literate
- Driving Licence
