Maidenhead RFC can take 'a lot of positives' from Saturday's frustrating draw with Weston-super-Mare RFC

Maidenhead RFC can look back on a lot of positives from Saturday's 27-27 draw with Weston-super-Mare, despite the agony of conceding a penalty with the very last kick.

Despite the club's failure to beat Ivybridge last weekend and Weston this, head coach Russell Bolton insists the club are improving. He feels they could be in a position to challenge for South West Premier promotion in the very near future, but unfortunately work commitments mean he probably won't be head coach when they do. "There was frustration at the end but on reflection we can look back on a lot of positives. We got three points instead of five and while it wasn't a total disaster it was another opportunity missed," said Bolton.

"That's rugby, I think we're making small gains and hopefully we will again in the summer. We don't have the resources to go and storm a league and we're not going to recruit heavily but there's a good chance we will improve again." "We're getting better and I can see how hard the guys have been working.

I feel that winning feeling is just around the corner. Unfortunately that improvement probably won't come quite quickly enough for me." Tries from Will Macauley, Olly Foxley and Laurence Leonard, along with a penalty try from a catch and drive, had put Maids on the verge of victory. But Weston's James Mackay, who'd already slotted two conversions, secured a draw with the game's final kick. "Will Macauley was penalised. He thought that the ball had come out and he could get the turn over, but those are the risks you take when you're trying to win the game," added Bolton. "If he had we'd have won the game.

"Their kicker had been exceptional, nailing kicks from everywhere so I thought he'd probably make it. But you never know what will happen when the pressure is really on.

"It was disappointing and frustrating, but we've gone away from home and played well against a team that beat us at home and put lots of points on us away from home last season."

Legend Rugby Holidays
(Will Greenwood)

Hello Maidenhead Juniors Massive!

You may (or may not) know that I'm involved in a business which puts on sports holidays in various lovely locations... Our 'home' has been at the fantastic Forte Village in Sardinia since we started and as great as it is, it's also a bit pricey.

So... we've decided to add a new location which ultimately delivers the same incredible coaching/family holiday experience but at a much more affordable cost.

We're doing a trial week in Easter (13th - 20th April) and going out to a select group with a special "introductory offer" to try and get some bums on seats. This is why I'm coming to you...

Venue - Desert Springs Resort in Spain
Rugby Legend - my old England mucker Lewis Moody will be heading up the coaching.

Special prices below:
- 1 bed apartment inc. rugby coaching (2 people) = £650 (should be £1,650)
- 2 bed apartment inc. rugby coaching (up to 4 people) = £975 (should be £1,990)
Accommodation is self catered and you'll need to add flights (to Murcia or Almeria) and car hire on top, but if you need any help on this, Pete and the team at Legend are there to support

Click here to contact Pete know if you or any close friends fancy it!

Thanks, Greens
