U16s First game and loss of the season v Camberley

Maidenhead U16 0 v Camberley 29

Sunday 9th September 2018

A friendly encounter with three 20-minute sessions.

First ten minutes we seemed to have control, good phase play and ball retention. Huge pressure from Camberley resulting in lose ball that they picked up on a scored in the left-hand corner against the run of play, try.

Secord score was similar in the same corner although Camberley were building pressure all the time, bigger and stronger, we defended well but again court short on the left-hand corner, try and conversion.

End of the first session.

Maidenhead 0 Camberley 12

Changing plays due to injury and swaps, we started again strong. Injured players, Jimmy March - back and Charles Stokes - neck. We ran some good attaching line and made ground, but again Camberley were very strong on the turn over and managed to slip a tackle in mid field to score a try near the posts plus conversion. On the restart we build up phase play and retain well, fitness was starting to show now, again error by us giving the advantage to Camberley, who managed to score in the left-hand corner. On the restart we pressured again almost scored in the top right hand but were stopped short.

End of the second session.

Maidenhead 0 Camberley 12

Again, complete change of the team due to injures and fitness, but considering these changes we played some really good rugby. The only score again was from Camberley, left hand corner, try.

End of the third session.
