U11s win Land Rover Cup and Fair Play Trophy

Sunday 3rd December 2017

Congratulations to Maidenhead RFC U11s winners of the Land Rover Cup and also selected as the tournament Fair Play Winners.

12 players representing Maidenhead RFC Under 11 Age Group had a great day at The Land Rover Cup tournament this weekend winning the trophies for both on and off pitch performance. The Fair Play criteria was based on supporters, coaches approach; the teams support in attack and in TREDS (Teamwork - Respect - Enjoyment - Discipline - Sportsmanship).

They victoriously scored maximum points in TREDS and secured the win based on their game results. Playing Farnborough first they scored 9 tries and conceded none. A tough game against London Irish ended in a 4 -2 win with some truly heroic team defence on their line for 3 minutes non-stop. Next up were local rivals Redingensians and another strong performance to win 5-1 with a final win of 6-1 against Wallingford. Members of the U11s squad come from 9 different schools with over half of them not playing school rugby, which shows how strong the team and the whole Age Group is to get to this level.

They represented themselves, their parents, their coaches, their Age Group and our club superbly and were VERY worthy winners of the Land Rover cup on the pitch and most importantly off the pitch! Brilliant and well done to all involved
