U9s at the Beaconsfield Festival

Sunday 16th October 2016

Maidenhead Rugby Club sent one U9s team to the Beaconsfield rugby tournament on Sunday (16th October).

The team of Tom Dargan, Sam King, Guy Forward, Barnaby Davis, William Hodgson, Benjy Carman, James Wojceichowicz, Roman Deans and Ollie Collins were looking to build on the age group's great start to the season.

On a sodden Sunday morning and postage stamp pitches the team were immediately put into action against strong sides from Old Albanians, Ealing and Amersham.

Some excellent team defence saw three victories under their belt without having leaked a try which was the perfect start to their festival. Stronger opposition in the form of Henley were next up and despite a slow start saw the boys claw their way back into the game with some fast running and swift ball handling to help them edge this tense but sporting match.

Last but not least was a match against old adversaries from Windsor where the boys competed in a fruity affair with more than its fair share of tough tackling. Overall another great step in their education to contact rugby with four wins and a defeat under their belt.
