MRFC News 2016/17
Welcome to Maidenhead RFC's news and events page
There is lots going on at the club and here we hope to keep you up to date with what's coming up and reports on recent events.
Player of the month - Will Thompson
Will receives this month's award on the back of some outstanding performances with the 2nd XV, playing a vital role in ensuring they finished 2nd in the league which is a fantastic achievement.
Will's desire and commitment to improving his game in order to establish a 1st XV place has been commendable and his attitude and work rate in training has been impressive. This resulted in his return to the 1st XV set up for the home fixture against Reading.
Head coach Russell Bolton commented "Will has had a bit of a turbulent season playing both 1st and 2nd XV and being used in a variety of roles. The way he has handled himself shows that he has the attitude along with the skill sets to become a top quality player. Playing in his natural position of fly half he has really started to develop and you can see that in his performances on the field and in training. His control of the game for the 2nd XV has been a major reason in their success and why so many of the 2nd XV players have been able to shine in recent weeks."
Well done Will.

Unicorns do exist!
The Berkshire Unicorns RFC, based at Maidenhead RFC, are proud to announce that they have been accepted as affiliate members of Berkshire County RFU. This is an important milestone in the development of the Unicorns as they continue to build the team and work towards gaining full membership over the 2017/2018 season through playing regular match fixtures. Berkshire County is the smallest RFU Constituent Body in the country with only thirteen full member clubs so the affiliation of a new member club is a notable moment for the County.
The Unicorns have the following fixtures coming up: Saturday 25th March - Brighton & Hove Sea Serpents RFC (Away) Saturday 22nd April - Kings Cross Steelers RFC (Away).
They are hoping to organise a home fixture at Braywick with the Northampton Outlaws soon.

Dave passed away on Christmas Eve.
The Funeral Service will be at St.Luke's at 11.15 on the 24th January, with attendees invited to Fredericks Hotel afterwards. A cremation will follow the service, but this will be for the family only.
Dave was a stalwart lock forward playing at a variety of levels for the Club in the 60s and 70s, and later became a long term valued 'groundsman' preparing the pitches each Saturday ready for all the senior home sides to use.
I am sure that there will still be a lot of people around who will remember Dave well, having played alongside him, and will wish to attend on the 24th.
Player of the month - Mark Childerhouse
Chilli receives this month's player of the month award after recently returning from injury.
A regular first team scrum half, Chilli has shown true commitment and dedication to the club during his recuperation and return from injury.
Although not being able to train with the senior squad, he has been a regular at training for rehabilitation and is now working his way back to match fitness in the 2nds and contributing to their development both on and off the pitch.
Chilli embodies our #bleedmagenta philosophy.

International Ticket Applications
Details on international ticket allocations and how we at Maidenhead RFC allocate tickets to ensure as many members as possible have the chance to support England at Twickenham.
Our Ticket Allocation
The RFU informs the club of the number of international tickets that we are entitled to. We confirm acceptance of all allocated tickets. This financial commitment is undertaken prior to applications being made by club members.
Our ticket allocation is specified by The RFU based on our membership numbers. Therefore, unfortunately, it is not possible to guarantee tickets to all applicants. We are only allocated tickets for England home games.
The following categories of membership are entitled to apply for International Tickets: Honorary Life Member, Vice President, Senior Player, Family Membership.
Please Note: - Family Membership allows a single application, not an application per family member.
All applications are checked against the club database to ensure applicants qualify.
